One of the owners is still same.
You mean GHS I assume (who own Indigo Hakone and ANA CP Chitose, etc.)?
To my understanding (from local people involved heavily in the hotel development sector in Indonesia), GHS are a partner/ investor in those Indo projects, but the local partner controls it. That is often necessary due to the land ownership rules (depends on legal setup) and even the mere ability to acquire the needed land for such a project needs serious connections beyond money.
Hence my comment in the other thread that the owner of the local partner company for the newly announced Kimpton has major political muscle/ connections (and money) given his brother was minister for manpower and is minister for economic development as well as was the chairman of a major political party, all of it has a certain "flavor", but that's normal in this sector. Most big hotels in Bali have similar "setups".
Anyways, the newly announced Kimpton property in Ubud (as some may have read) was initially planned and designed for Solis brand that belongs to Singapore based Capella, but not sure what happened for it to swap over to IHG now. Fits Kimpton well I reckon though.
Around this property Kimpton Naranta (former Amanusa) a lot of speculation about what has and is happening is still ongoing that even the hotel industry locals in Bali are confused. To be seen, but chances of this coming online as a Kimpton any time soon are not high I'd reckon, but one never knows I guess.
