Thumbs up Shoe Carnival & Baggage Screening: DSM-style

Flew out of DSM a few days ago. In the TSA line, there are official TSA signs by the checkpoint that say "Removing your shoes may prevent additional screening" and "The choice is yours to remove your shoes."

Even though this is a small airport, I'm glad to see all bags are sent through one CTX machine and 3 TSA personnel working the bag screening, as opposed to open/closed/full-bag-search ETD screening. I was quite annoyed that there were signs asking passengers to unlock their bags, despite the fact physical searches were conducted in full view of the public. In MCO and LAX, there are signs that say "Please wait here while your baggage is being screened."
