Why are they having you to come pick it up? If it's truly their fault they will pay to have it delievered to your place. Was the reason for you getting seperated from it a choice you had control over (taking a vol. bump, standing by for a different flight, checking in too late for luggage,etc?) In that case it would not be their fault. Also did this happen while away from home? You can't claim expenses when in your home city if your luggage didn't arrive.
Also on the insurance claim remember you MUST tell them any $ that NW gives you (if they do give any), otherwise insurance fraud can be claimed.
