The practical fact remains; there won’t be any non-West Coast to HKG routes until the normal air routes are restored. Therefore, we shouldn’t be surprised UA is adding capacity out of LAX. It’s one of their only options.
Either way, it's still quite impressive that UA will be 4x daily at HKG this winter, which is up from their 2019 position of 3x daily.
