I don't think its bad news for BA at all.
They can now have a lot more code sharing from Hong Kong on cathay pacific to places like Auckland and Taipei etc etc as per the press release.
I would also think that as VS are allowed to fly through HGK to Australia, why can't BA.
(Yes, I know, competing with QF & CX, but the could code share)
The deal wasn't Virgin specific.
