just sign up for t-mobiles internaionl roaming "world class" or what ever it is called. It takes about a week,. they will unlock tyhe phone for you & you are suppose to use tehn for roaming (about $1 USD per minute in Europe) but you can just exchange the sim card with a local one & call for less.
