Awhile ago LP stopped it. It would make that much of a difference as Dis wouldnt allow a person to use LP miles to get a tkt on any carrier that wasnt apart of LP. In other words, they stopped you from transfering LP to Dis then cashing out for a tkt on American (a partner of Dis).
Only benefit was that with Dis you are able to get a free stopover, so you could fit 2 countries onto 1 tkt. With LP/GP you need to ante up more miles if you want a stopover.
The BIG Neg is with Dis you need to take a Paid flight every 3 yrs or the miles go bye-bye, and it must be a Grupo-Taca flight at that. hotel stays/ rental cars etc doesnt keep the clock ticking as it does by GP.
If anyone has been able in the past 2 yrs to use miles transferred ONLY from LP/GP and get a tkt on AA or any other partner of Dis PLEASE post when and with whom.
