Hi, I booked a Singapore award ticket on Oct 12, 2023, for travel on Oct 1, 2024. I am now trying to change the flight to Nov 1, 2024, but two agents have told me it's impossible because the new travel date (Nov 1 '24) is more than one year past the date I made the booking (Oct 12 '23). They are saying the only option is to cancel the flight to redeposit miles ($75/ticket, rather than the would-be $25/ticket change fee), then rebook the flight.

But I've read some forums and blogs (including the articles linked below), which appear to indicate that you CAN re-book a flight for a date that is more than a year past the date the booking was made, but you would be required to pay a miles "top up" if the new fare is more expensive (although in my case the mileage costs are the same).

I have also seen websites including Singapore airlines saying that changes must be made within a year of the booking date, but it's unclear if they mean I have to change the booking within one year of initial booking, or change the booking AND take the flight within one year of booking.

Can anyone confirm from experience is what the reps said accurate, or should I keep trying to call and find someone who can help me?
