Welcome to Flyertalk, cristmh!

I've stayed at Lake Akan too and agree it is beautiful. Unfortunately, what I found was a large hotel, the "Akan Yuku no Sato Tsuruga." I booked their top room category and it was a very luxurious large room, on a sort of private floor, kind of a mix between Japanese and western, with a great lake view. But the food was nothing special as all meals were at a huge buffet-style restaurant. I realized later that I could have paid extra for a better meal experience in a different, smaller, waiter-served restaurant.
