If you're buying euro-J with either airline, it should be because either:

1. The Luggage allowance, priority security, lounge access, and priority boarding make it worthwhile.
2. You need to impress someone
3. Some weird cult thing involving attaining status for an alliance you don't fly nearly enough to benefit from status.
4. You have a medical condition for which easy lavatory access is important.

otherwise it doesn't make sense.

as an aside, in the US, domestic first class is basically alcoholic class: most people are pounding whisky and the food is largely carbs.
