Does anyone have any alternative recommendations along the pacific coast for luxury hotels around/slightly above this price point? We had originally looked into O&O Mandarina but reconsidering that as unsure it is worth the premium.
I think a 3/4 split would be good between Thompson/CDM. (Stay at Thompson first, as CDM is better in every way.) LCQC is right next door to Thompson, so I don’t see the point in that combination.
As for other resorts on the Pacific, in March we stayed in the spectacular Presidential Suite at Quinta Real Huatulco. We loved the spaciousness, jaw-dropping views, private pool, pristine beach, and solitude, but service was lacking and on-site food/beverages were sometimes underwhelming. Here’s my review:

I’ve always been curious about Las Alamandas and Cuixmala, but I don’t know if they are in the same price range. Probably not…

If you’re open to Acapulco, the Banyan Tree there is a real bargain—but no beach. And there are some terrific casita suites with private pools at the iconic Las Brisas, but it’s sprawling and requires golf carts to get around.

Last, the all-inclusive Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta had the best service we’ve ever had in Mexico. Food and cocktails were excellent, and the atmosphere was serene. It’s a short walk or shuttle ride to their (lovely) beach club though, and the beach/water there isn’t as nice as other spots along the Pacific. Here’s my review:
