Hello. I currently have an award booking from Tokyo (NRT) that involves a connection. Not ideal but good value for the miles.

However a new direct award flight via HND popped up for near the same amount of miles. I would much rather prefer to take this BUTTT I will not know if I can make the flight for a few more days.

Theoretically is it possible to have seperate award bookings, one for NRT (JAL metal) and one for HND (AA metal) on the same date? Idea would be to cancel one of the bookings once I have my schedule confirmed.

The worst case scenario would be loosing both flights due to an auto cancelation for holding two bookings on the same date.
