You’re honestly mostly better off building your own relationship with a hotel and sending your own correspondence directly.
Before my trip to SE Asia, I asked in May the Ambassador desk to check with 3 properties, where I do not know the management team, to ensure that I would get suite upgrades if those were available during my stay.
The hotels confirmed weak upgrades (junior suite, room with ocean view) and the 2 agents, I communicated with, seemed to be satisfied with the hotel replies, so I did not try to have them get a better commitment from the hotels. I did not insist and asked a couple of managers, that I knew in another SE Asia country, if they knew managers at those properties. Messages were sent and I was upgraded to executive suites and villas. GMs at 2 of those properties welcomed me at check-in and I was treated very well at all 3 properties.

I would think that it is the role of the Ambassador desk to do this work, including efficient follow-ups, and would hope to avoid to ask favors to the people working in other hotels in the future.

The Ambassador assigned to my account sent me an email beginning of June, but I did not respond yet, although I will upon my return.
