All the legacies are doing this these days. I just had a one stop itinerary on DL turn into a double connection and a 1.5 hr connection on AA turn into a 5 hour layover.
As the pandemic was evolving this was understandable. But it needs to stop now.
FYI, it's not a good idea to make such a bold assertation in the title of a thread when the body of the thread makes it clear that you don't know if it'd true.
