I’ll keep looking of course but right now it’s either:
BCN - ZRH - JFK // LGA - RDU (LX to JFK and DL to RDU with a 4.5 hour layover)
or this option
BCN - LHR - EWR - RDU (BA to EWR and UA to RDU as noted above with 3 hour layover)
I’m inclined to think this one is better and at least it’s the same airport so a little less risky although LHR is probably more likely to have IRROPS than ZRH barring a major weather event in Switzerland
My wife and I made it in under 55 minutes from the door opening on our LX ZRH-JFK flight to the UA check-in counter at LGA. We had checked luggage, too (and GE). It’s a doable option.
