Two friends of mine (I booked their tickets so I got the emails and app notifications) were offered $700 to change their flight yesterday to the same flight today. They had to be home so they couldn't take it. It killed me when they turned it down.
Was it this type of email or the usual one where you’re only added to a list handled at the gate? I’m wondering if the previous overbooked emails are going away in favor of this type of up front offer. $55 is a joke, but I understand them going for the lowest bidder first.
