Just went through the same thing. Reservation got split just prior to check in as one of my family switched the return flight (unknow to me at check-in). The check in agent at SFO was basically NOT helpful at all and despite my protests she charged both non 1K travelers for bags. I took a couple of there bags and put them on my ticket (I only had one bag) and that further PO'ed the agent. She went it to all this stuff about assuming liability for anything in there bags. I sent an email to 1Kvoice and got an almost immediate refund for there bags (credit to them by voucher), however, I would add that they did say the agent was within her right NOT to give them my benefits as there were not on my/same PNR.
Uh oh, my worst nightmare! Really didn't want this hassle on the day of travel but that's essentially what the 1K desk told me. Maybe I should get a box of chocolates for the check in agent
Seriously though, our reservation is international and they are already assigned economy plus seats so my only concern was the bags. Fortunately I get 3 and they get 1 each to check in free, so the 5 bags in total should be free.
