Usually fares will decrease until 2-4 weeks prior to departure; then often you see a significant increase in fare until departure. Last minute fares are almost always expensive.
If you buy very far out you pay a premium and cut yourself out from any promo fares later. There is no reason to buy tickets for February now unless you already researched that the fares are at their lowest low (when comparing with other travel dates)
