Sort of. The TA who booked the flights for our group has an overall PNR for the entire trip. But there are also separate PNRs for the AS and AA flights. However, both flights show up as the same trip in the AS app. It's a bit confusing.
This is normal, any ticket involving mote than one airlie will have a PNR for each airline, although sometimes its just behind the scenes. AS will be able to check you in. AS-partner international tickets are common.
