I don't mine being asked. But my problem is,
I wasn't asked. I was
told that there is a change of my seat assignment and handled a new boarding pass. It was after I pushed back that I got my original seat.
Based on reading the flight status and seat maps earlier, the person assigned to 1B most likely paid $125 for a TOD after I was upgraded.
