Actually it wasn't too bad. Delta's hub operation was entirely in terminal 4E (now "E"), and they built the satellite terminal because they needed the gates. The only time you would need to take the old train was to go to the Hyatt, remote parking, or changing planes between different airlines (or you have a long layover and want to burn off some time; it took 45 minutes to make every stop around the airport

I remember the old train. It was indeed slow. But there was really no other good way to change terminals, I don't remember there being shuttle buses. You can still see remnants of the old track (concrete paths) between the terminals paralleling Intentional Pkwy, the main airport access road. Visible from the A-B & C-D connectors. Skylink is a vast improvement.
