Same thing is happening with the California Zephyr car 532 starting in september. At lease I was notified almost 2 months before the trip. Now I'll be on the Empire Builder to Portland. It sucks that I'll miss most of the Rocky Mountains in the dark.
You won't miss most of the Rocky Mountains westbound, you'll miss all of them. Train doesn't get to Browning about 15 minutes from East Glcier the start of Marias Pass until 7:28 pm. The sun sets at 6:43 pm at East Glacier on October 15th according to NOAA.
