Hotel 1 - credit must be used before midnight each night. Checked in after midnight - no credit for you. Even if you wanted breakfast you can't have it on the day you check out.
Hotel 2 - breakfast buffet $32, but credit can be used in hotel shop for any food/beverage.....
Hotel 3 - (Captial Hilton in DC) - credit is $18. Breakfast is $34 +tax + tip. So used credit in hotel shop instead. On checking out got told the hotel shop (which is in the hotel lobby and allows you to charge to your room) "is nothing to do with the hotel" and so credit can't be applied there. After a long argument with the management that the poilicy is completely inconsistent between hotels and the price of breakfast is the reason their restaurant is empty all the time, they agreed to credit the room charges from the lobby shop.

Inconsistent poor policy, overpriced breakfast. It's worst than simply taking away the breakfast - the current system is causing grief and conflict and is leading to a 100% negative experience on each stay. Another diamond who won't be back.....
