I've got a trip booked to NYC in a week, but will most likely not be able to leave due to unexpected delays in getting my passport.

Due to the flexible policy, I can change my flights once. My tickets are in Economy Light. When checking out the available flights to change to, Economy Flex shows up as an option.

This doesn't make much sense to me. It looks like I could rebook myself to Economy Flex, and then cancel the booking completely and receive a full refund? What am I missing? Is this a loophole to get even Light tickets cancelled with a full refund?
