I jumped on the 60K JN fares to NZ. My flight to IAH has been cancelled (there is now only 1 flight a day meaning a 20 hour layover in IAH) and I assume the computer rebooked me through LAX but arriving 10 minutes before the flight to WLG departs. Of course awards SYD to WLG are nowhere to be found at this point. I can still find routing through AKL, which would mean connecting in SFO on a RJ with a 1.5 hour layover, which isn't great and could easily go sideways. The only other option is 16h+ layover in SFO.
Which are they more likely to grant:
1 Ask for a day earlier into SYD. (would this even be allowed, since it means a 24h 10 min layover.)
2. Ask to be routed out of SFO via AKL or a 24+ hour layover in SFO from my departure airport.
3. Keep current routing via LAX but cancel SYD-WLG flights.
