A few months ago I also confirmed this. When I sponsor others now I do not even bother with the Premium Plus cabin. My non premier friends frequently rank last on the upgrade list using GS points, while they rank first on the Polaris upgrade list. Weird, but that's how the system is designed and is not an error.
