IME, once the first segment is flown, the app no longer shows same day change options during the trip.
However, I have been able to make changes at the connecting airport AC. Another time recently, I was also given some flight options when calling the EXP line during the layover, but didn’t actually make any changes since the alternate flights given didn’t work for me.
