Not sure I understand AA's strategy here.
LNS is a 35-mile (30 min) drive from MDT, a very underutilized airport in a region with 1.8 million people within a one-hour drive. As a pax I'm not sure if, given a choice, I would choose a 90 minute bus ride without traffic that can easily jump to 2+ hours during rush hour and / or inclement weather.
If you're flying somewhere domestically that would already require a connection, it doesn't make a lot of sense to bus to PHL over MDT. However, if you're taking a direct international or transcontinental flight, it might beat making an airport connection for some.
