Oops yes 5:40 pm. We will probably go for the Polaris lounge. There's a lot of back-and-forth with leaving airside once we land in EWR in Terminal C (at 9:30 am) then going through security again in Terminal B once the TAP check-in desk is open (2 pm? 3.5 hours before our flight?) then taking the airtrain back to C to the Polaris Lounge, then taking the airside United shuttle back to B to our TAP gate.
I would suggest leaving airport property for at least the entire morning. You will have choices in B & C to lounge hop, but
8 hours is a lot of time to be spending in the airport, even with access to PL.

Since the OP is on separate tickets, lounge access could be dependent on having a boarding pass on your departing TP flight. Also if the OP has checked luggage, you will need to claim your luggage in a somewhat timely manner. If they go off the airport property, is there a left luggage facility service at EWR?
