Besides being non-ETOPS and never flying to Europe (these were the legacy UAL PW 752s), I believe the (pre-COVID) plan was alwayw to retire those specific 752s by 2022. They were ancient and some significant maintenance requirements due (as
WineCountryUA noted). It wasn't going to be economical to keep them.
