I hope you are exaggerating when you say you were humiliated, but it does seem like the bartenders have some beef with the freestyle machines. At CLT I asked for a bourbon and Dr. Pepper and the bartender brusquely stated “we don’t have Dr. Pepper here, have you tried the machine around the corner?” It wasn’t what she said but how she said it. I moved on with my day because I didn’t have time to dwell on such a minor slight, and in retrospect chalked it up to the fact that the CLT lounge was closing a day or two later and she might well have been out of a job.
I’ve never had anything less than great service at the ORD bar. Was this the bar near the elevators or the one in the back?
