Well, there may be a rationale, which may or may not be rational, and my first thought is that they're waiting until all the credit vouchers expire. Buy two fares, or in the case of certain South America markets, much of the time only J and D are available.

I just got an email from Aeromexico telling me me they have completed their restructuring and 'we are excited for what the future holds.'
Perhaps this means Aeromexico is about to open up European destinations again from the US airports they serve:
