Some chains like IHG, Wyndham and Hilton let you add guest names online, while others don't. Does Choice? A quick look at the final reservation page suggests no it doesn't, but let me know if I missed it.
For award nights, I just put the name of the checking-in guest in the special instructions field. But this means that the front desk staff will have to first pull up the reservation by using the name listed at the top as the guest.
