Just completed a stay here (very good service).

They charged me in Turkish Lira. But I am sure my previous stays have been charged in Euro, and indeed my booking confirmation this time was also in Euro.

This worked out in my favour, because the end price at checkout was about 13% less (in EUR terms) than the original booking confirmation from a couple of months ago.

Also the folio included an item that I have not seen before from Hilton: "FOREIGN CURRENCY LOSS" as a credit.

With the current rampant inflation in Turkey, has there been a policy change from the government mandating that hotels charge in TL?

Otherwise I cannot see why the hotel would charge in TL considering its value against hard currency is literally falling by the day,

Anyway, Turkey is generally a very inexpensive place at the moment for those with USD / EUR / GBP or other hard currency.

Another data point: I paid with a Wise Visa debit card to avoid FX charges and I still received the bonus points for the current Hilton credit card promo. So once again it seems that using any Visa card will trigger the bonus.
