Flying with baby; gate checking strollers/car seats etc..

Baby's first flight is coming up. I've searched on FT and others sites and saw conflicting info from what was allowed and what gets gate checked.

AC says only small strollers (collapsed diameter not exceeding 25.5 cm (10 in) and a length not exceeding 92 cm (36 in)) get gate checked although travellers say that larger strollers will get gate checked. We have a medium sized one (Uppababy Cruz). So confirming if that AC is not following policy and allowing families to bring their go to strollers. We also have her rear facing car seat (Clek Liingo) that attaches to the stroller that we hope can be gate checked as well? Reason why I'm asking is that you can buy expensive travel bags for all this stuff to be checked in but we would prefer for everything to be gate checked so it's likely to arrive with us on our flight and save us hundreds of dollars in the process. I assume that these items get picked up in the baggage area and not at the gate when arriving?

We're flying in J and hoping for a chill travel experience. ; )
