Unfortunately a recurrent nightmare. It’s still going on.
Today, trying to book 2 different tickets, different dates, all UA or UA Express domestic, full website, 2 different browsers, all cookies cleared, still no joy. Called UA, they called back in 30 minutes, rep of course said he could help, he could NOT help, transferred to web support, 10 minutes elevator music, discussed first ticket, rep said he could help, he could NOT help, 10-15 minutes back and forth, I said I had just purchased $1,000 of TravelBank funds (UA CC 8x promo) and I’d like a refund, hold for 10-15 minutes, he said he could do it, done, discussed second ticket, no more holds, done. Total phone time about 45-60 minutes.
I asked when it happens again tomorrow or next week what should I tell the next web support agent, he said “tell them to do it manually”

. Nonsense, the FIRST thing web support should try is to do it manually (and override the automatic system), why else have web support. He said this is the first they’re hearing of problems (BS), he’ll submit a “report”.
Just more terrible customer service. Just another United money grab attempt for providing ZERO service. Enough people with TravelBank balances will give up, pay for the ticket with a credit card, and then have their TravelBank funds expire so that UA keeps this free money.
