As a previous SAN based flyer, I never hated the bus. I actually enjoyed admiring the different aircraft you see along the way.
Of course, this is with well padded connecting time.
I also appreciated the lounges as EXP and the long flight to Europe or South America (LATAM) that allows for 6+ hours of sleep on a flat bed.
SAN LAX will come back.
