Do not forget that the majority of people in UK have been vaccinated with the Astra Zeneca vaccine which is less effective against variants than Pfizer or Moderna. So what will happen in UK is not necessarily what will happen in other countries depending which vaccines have been used (AZ is not approved in US).
If you have both doses AZ is only slightly less effective - not enough to make significant difference.
Putting it into context, of the low number of people admitted to hospital with the Delta variant, the number who had been double vaccinated was 3...... the rest were either completely un-vaccinated or had only had the first jab.
