Going MSP-HNL-OGG is likely to be your best bet for a premium experience on a special trip. The MSP-HNL segment will likely be back to the A330 aircraft by then, which has comfortable DeltaOne seating and full meal/beverage service for 2 meals. Even if still a 767, the DeltaOne experience is virtually certain to provide a far better experience than anything involving connections on the mainland. The short codeshare segment HNL-OGG on Hawaiian will be standard seating, but it takes so little time compared to the 8-9 hours in DeltaOne that it shouldn't be a factor. Might have to call in to book, as the Hawaiian segment in first can cause trouble on the website. Take that segment in economy if need be in order to have the long one in DeltaOne.

If forced into a mainland connection, SLC-OGG will still be on a widebody with lie-flat seats, but without DeltaOne food/beverage service. Covid protocol means this route currently only gets prepackaged snack boxes for food service. By February, normal domestic first food service should be back on that route, but it will still be a lesser experience than MSP-HNL.
