I did not get the popup showing I was not eligible for the bonus. I was declined both times and first letter showed "too many new bank card accounts".

I rode the Citi AA train pretty hard between 5/18 and 5/19, but those cards are all closed and off the 24 month radar. I guess those could be it, but I did not think Amex cared about that. I did churn two AMEX's (SPG and Hilton IIRC) in 2012/2013 timeframe and closed a old AMEX Blue card in 2019.
