We checked in online the night before our flight and were told we needed to be reissued return tickets because the itinerary had changed.
It now included an overnight in Houston. We were told we could go to the feedback site of United and be reimbursed for costs. Hotel, dinner, bag check in.
But United said no, they change flights due to Covid. I feel they told us too late. Any reason to pursue this or are we just out the money?

If I understand your situation correctly to match jsloan's recap above, one thing you may want to try is searching for a new, one way flight booking on any return date that works for you. Look to see if there is something that fits your schedule without the overnight. Then you can call to ask to be changed for no charge. That said, if the re-accommodation gave you an overnight, there may simply be no options for getting from your A to your B in one day.
