Ideally it is best to report it in the baggage area. I suspect the BA desk would not have been staffed, but usually there is a plastic sign up giving a telephone number of someone to call. In the absence of that, you want
ba.com/baggage
and then the link to "delayed baggage" then the damanged baggage form. Take a screen shot before submission, and you need to do this within 7 days of it happening.
