From what I know the ISM was only required to greet DM, DMP and INV as well as OW Emeralds flying in all classes. In most of my experience the ISM also takes time to greet all pax in F regardless of status.
Service depends, In my few long haul flights the ISM normally helps in J specially during the roll out phase of the new J service. On very short flights I notice them also helping in serving meals in J specially on a full flight.
It really depends. Some ISM are really helpful and walk around taking care of pax in all classes. At the same time, I remembered flying in long haul J that I could barely see the ISM, presumably they were staying in F most of the time.
