This is definitely incorrect, and first class & quiet car historically have been either on the north or south end of the train. There was some degree of regularity on which end for particular train numbers, but even this was not absolute.
Well I guess I can only authoritatively say it has been this way every time I've taken Acela from Union station, but that is probably only about 25 times in the last year.
