There have been some statements from Mitsubishi Heavy Industry and other reports on the media.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industry is saying the program is not totally suspended. However, the budget for the program was cut in half May this year and the budget for the program will be further reduced next year. Mitsubishi Heavy Industry said flight tests will continue in Japan and will work toward getting airworthiness certificate in Japan.

Currently there are orders from seven airlines, but under current aviation industry in world not certain that any of seven airlines can/will take delivery of aircraft when Space Jet is finally ready. Seems like the state of current airline industry has also had part in the decision of Mitsubishi heavy Industry.
