OP wants to obtain the next status tier and is short a dozen nights, asked for the cheapest option (even at great distance or in another state), required online check-in, and didn't plan to stay. The T&C require that the guest "stays" to earn EQN. OP didn't plan to
stay and was looking to farm nights without being present for even check-in. OP is attempting to earn EQN without the "stay" part of the T&C, which by any reasonable definition is a violation (fails to abide by in good faith) as the T&C require the "stay" portion.
There is plenty of talk of how Marriott devalues the Bonvoy program but what about when members devalue the program?
