Hi all,
The State Department has been slowly working through the huge backlog of passport applications and renewals that have been sitting in shuttered passport agencies nationwide since March. Would anyone be willing to share actual data points of their own experience doing simple, blue (tourist) passport renewal by mail? I need to time my renewal process very precisely between trips, and currently there is no official "expedite" option. There are third-party expediting companies that I could use, but I'm not sure if they would actually be faster, given the huge backlog, and that DOS is supposedly processing in the order received, starting with the oldest paperwork.

1) When did you mail your renewal paperwork and citizenship evidence?
2) When did you receive your NEW passport and/or card?
3) When did you receive your citizenship evidence returned to you? (typically a separate mailing)
