We’ve spent the last week at Bellagio after agonizing for weeks over whether to cancel the trip—not because we wouldn’t like the version of Vegas we knew we would encounter but because we simply don’t want to catch Covid. Mainly we wanted a trip with our kids to sit in poolside cabanas all day with good service and nice dinners that could be enjoyed outdoors. FS properties in Hawaii and Mexico (our go-tos multiple times a year) are sadly off the table. Given what we read about strict enforcement of mask rules in LV we decided to go for it, taking precautions as much as we feasibly could. I’m a gambler but we’re not here to gamble, except for making a few sports bets for fun.

Gotta say, the trip has been great. Loving this version of Vegas. Mask wearing has been good for the most part, as it’s enforced. For sure there are guests here who are not thrilled to wear masks and socially distance—feels different from everyday life in our part of SF where mask usage is very good and Covid numbers have been very low—but we do our best to avoid them and I think we have been okay (fingers crossed). Been easy to get prime tables at great restaurants where they are running prix fixe deals to get customers in, and our 2-bd PH fountain view suite was a great deal.
