130,000 JAL miles expiring in 2 months :(
Hi FT community,
I transferred SPG points to JAL before the Marriott merger (back in 2017) and see they are expiring in 2 months. I'm currently sitting on 130,000 JAL miles which I intended to use for JFK-MXP roundtrip on Emirates. A few questions I'm hoping the experts may know:
1) I know points expire 36 months after earning....does that mean flights have to be BOOKED with the miles by that point, or FLOWN by that point?
2) If the latter, any chance JAL may be doing any courtesy extensions given the COVID situation?
3) If I need to liquidate them, is there any options to transfer to other partners, cash out for gift cards, etc?
