From US Embassy Buenos Aires new flights to Chile, Mexico City, São Paulo, Miami

Location: Argentina



Event: Only sporadic and specially approved international flight options currently exist in Argentina. The Embassy continues to communicate any information regarding future flights as soon as it is available.



The following flights are not U.S. government-operated or funded flights.Please direct all questions regarding these flights and the eligibility to purchase tickets to the airline.
  • Ethiopian Airlines has announced it will operate flight 8618 from Buenos Aires to Sao Paulo, Brazil on Thursday, May 21, at 2:10 p.m. from Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza). U.S. citizens interested in departing on this flight will need to book directly with Ethiopian Airlines (https://www.ethiopianairlines.com/ar).*The flight is subject to change.*
There are direct flights from Sao Paulo to the United States. A split ticket is required. U.S citizens will need an onward ticket out of Sao Paulo in order to board the Ethiopian flight. U.S. citizens are allowed to transit Sao Paulo, staying in the international terminal. Please visit U.S. Embassy Brasilia’s webpage on COVID-19 for more information.
  • Latam Airlines has announced it will operate a flight from Buenos Aires to Santiago, Chile on Friday, May 22, at 11:00 p.m. from Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza). U.S. citizens interested in departing on this flight will need to book directly with Latam Airlines (https://latam.com).*The flight is subject to change.*
U.S. citizens can transit Santiago with an onward flight. You should be prepared to stay in the airport for the duration of their connection time. Please visit U.S. Embassy Santiago’s webpage on COVID-19 for more information.
  • Aeroméxico has announced it will operate a flight from Buenos Aires to Mexico City, Mexico on Monday, May 25, from Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza). U.S. citizens interested in departing on this flight will need to send an email to [email protected] or join the WhatsApp group at +52 55 3666 0428. Please visit U.S. Embassy Mexico’s webpage on COVID-19for information on entry requirements for U.S. citizens.
Please reference our Embassy webpage on COVID-19for the list of required documents and permissions required by the Argentine government to travel to the airport and options on traveling to Buenos Aires from the provinces. You must submit your request to travel 60 (sixty) hours ahead of your departing the provinces or for the airport.Only travelers with confirmed international flight reservations may travel from the provinces to the Buenos Aires metropolitan area 24 hours in advance of the flight. If your travel to Buenos Aires will take longer than 24 hours, please note that in your request.





The national quarantine that began on March 20 has been extended through May 24. Limited quarantine exemptions include movement to obtain food and medical care and travel to the international airport for ticketed passengers. More information can be found on the Ministry of Health’s website.



The Government of the City of Buenos Aires has made wearing face masks or face coverings mandatory in all public spaces. The use of face coverings in cars and trains is also required in all areas of national jurisdiction and throughout the provinces. When in doubt, wear one – to stop the spread and avoid fines.
